AKKA LAS CRUCES
INSTRUCTORS
Michelle G. Soto
I began my martial arts training in 2000.  I had the opportunity to begin instructing students
in 2001, and in 2003 I obtained my 1st degree black belt.  I am currently training for my 3rd
degree black belt, and in June '07 I hope to achieve this great honor and accomplishment.

Mr. and Mrs. Maggard, as well as Mr. Yurcic, have not only been my instructors, but have
also been mentors of mine.  I am as grateful to have them in my life as I am for Karate
itself.  As I approach the rank of 3rd degree black belt, it has become very apparent that my
journey down this "path" has just begun.  I take great pride in being an instructor, and
appreciate all the lessons that my students have taught me in return.

In our school we have a great sense of family, and the relationships I have built with my
fellow students and their families have enriched my life.  Not only do I value my extended
karate family, but I've also had a rare opportunity to strengthen the bond with my two
sisters.  They are both black belts and fellow instructors, and we are proof that "The family
that kicks together, sticks together".
